Chemi Chloride Industries Limited (CCIL) is a subsidiary of Ittehad Chemicals Limited (ICL). The major raw materials for the production of Calcium Chloride are Lime Stone and concentrated Hydrochloric Acid. The later is available at ICL in quantities sufficient to cater to the present and future requirement of CCIL. Lime Stone is also abundantly available in the country. The product is thus based on regular sources / availability of indigenous raw material, thereby assuring nonstop supplies of product to its consumers worldwide.
As a matter of fact ICL has been producing Calcium Chloride Liquid since its inception way back in 1964, although not marketing it due to lack of indigenous consumer industry.
During the state controlled era, attempts were made by ICL to convince the Oil & Gas Development Corporation to use the abundantly available local product in their drilling operation, but the efforts proved in fructuous due to the lack of interest and over all greater perception on either side.
Ultimately it was left to the private entrepreneur (ICL was privatized in 1995) to transform the perception into reality and the idea into action. Thus, Calcium Chloride Industries Ltd. was incorporated as a public limited company in July 1999. The certificate for commencement of the business was granted August 2002.
A joint venture agreement was later inked with M/S Janyvar, Netherlands in 2006 on 25% equity basis and thus began the journey of Calcium Chloride Plant. A Memorandum of Understanding was signed with M/S NIVOBA BV Veendam Holland for providing technical assistance and allied equipment on turn-key basis. During all the construction stages of the plant and until its commissioning the technical team of Chemi Chloride fully collaborated with the foreign erectors. The basic infrastructures along with some vital equipment were provided locally.
The plant is spread over an area of 4 acres of land with ample product storage facility and the entire venture is valuated at US$6.55 Million/PKR 400Million approximately.
